Groundbait mixes for carp: structure, binding, underwater activity, correct dampening and the difference from a method feeder mix.

Groundbait is more than a carrier for aroma. It must reach the required binding level, survive the journey to the bottom and then create appropriate activity in the swim. Particle size, coarse inclusions and water absorption determine how the mix performs in a feeder, ball or wider baiting pattern.
Method feeder fishing requires controlled release from a moulded feeder close to the hookbait. A general groundbait may be intended for a cage feeder, balling in or broader feeding. The ideal binding, particle size and preparation method will therefore differ.
Fine particles help bind the mix and create a cloud. Coarser ingredients remain in the swim longer and can hold carp in the area. A mix that is too fine may work very quickly and attract small fish, while an excessively coarse mix can be difficult to form and may not create a coherent signal.
The mix continues to absorb water after the first dampening, so it needs time to settle. Wind and heat dry the surface; humid weather can soften it. Prepare smaller batches, protect them from direct sun and check the consistency by hand before each fill.
Our planned groundbait mixes will link directly to the main flavour profiles. The aim is to combine feed, hookbait and complementary attractor without mixing unrelated aromas and functions. Specific versions will be announced after recipe validation.
