What a boilie should really do

A boilie should carry a clear food and scent signal to the swim, withstand handling and casting, and behave predictably in the water. A short session and a multi-day baiting campaign require different products. Choosing only by flavour name or packaging colour therefore misses the point.

Diameter changes how the bait works

Smaller boilies provide more individual food items per kilogram and are generally easier for fish to accept. Larger diameters can be more selective, resist nuisance fish and remain in the water longer. There is no single correct size: fish stock, water temperature, activity and session length all matter.

Flavour is only part of the result

A fruity, spicy or fishmeal profile gives a bait character, but does not define its quality. What matters is how the aromatic profile works with the base mix, liquid attractors, fats, proteins and soluble fractions.
