NUTRIBAITS / ADVICE

The right choice begins at the water, not on the label.

Start with the fishing conditions and work towards the product. Water temperature, session length, natural food, nuisance-fish activity and feeding strategy usually influence the result more than the flavour name. A simple process narrows the choice without constant, unstructured bait changes.

1define the aim of the session
2choose size and structure
3then select the flavour profile
01

Define the length and style of the session

During a short session the swim needs to become active quickly. Longer fishing allows for gradual feeding and a more stable bait. Also distinguish between single-hookbait fishing, a small concentrated bed around the rig and wider baiting. Each approach needs a different release rate and number of food items.

02

Match the diameter to the fish and nuisance activity

Smaller diameters are versatile, easy to accept and provide more individual baits per kilogram. Larger boilies may reduce interest from small fish and last longer, but they do not automatically catch larger carp. Where bream or other nuisance fish are active, hardness and durability matter too.

03

Consider temperature and the type of water

In cold water, a smaller amount of clearly detectable food and a recipe that does not rely solely on hard fats will often be more suitable. In warm water fish are usually more active and heavier feeding may be possible. Current, depth, silt and weed also affect presentation and signal distribution.

04

Compare systematically

Change one important variable at a time. If flavour, size, rig and location all change together, you cannot identify what produced the result. Record water temperature, session length, feed quantity, bites and the condition of the hookbait when retrieved.

  • conditions and fishing time
  • hookbait type and diameter
  • quantity and feeding method
  • actual results and bait condition
